Ahok gets stood up by Jokowi as the pair were supposed to go blusukan together

Update: Jokowi and Ahok eventually did go blusukan together on Wednesday afternoon. They even rode in the same car (awwww).

Poor Ahok. He was probably really looking forward to going blusukan with his former boss President Jokowi.

As we reported earlier today, Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama was scheduled to conduct impromptu field visits at 1 pm today with President Joko Widodo and Public Works Minister Basuki Hadimuljono. But as we all know, Jokowi had more pressing matter to attend to as he announced his decision to drop Budi Gunawan as National Police chief in a press conference this afternoon.

But maybe the president could have and should have called Ahok in advance.

According to Merdeka, Ahok arrived right on time at their first blusukan destination in the East Flood Canal in East Jakarta. But Jokowi and Minister Basuki was not there.

Ahok went to a room to wait for Jokowi. He waited until 2 pm but there were no signs of the former Jakarta governor.

Maybe Jokowi can reschedule a blusukan date with Ahok some time soon. But it is well known that Ahok hates tardiness, and considering that he waited for an hour (which is approximately one day in Ahok time), we wouldn’t be surprised if the governor would refuse another blusukan invitation from Jokowi.
