​Indonesian Naval ship recovers more than 40 bodies from Air Asia QZ8501

Indonesian Navy spokesman First Admiral Manahan Simorangkir said an Indonesian naval ship has found more than 40 bodies from the Air Asia QZ8501 search site.

“According to navy radio communications, it was reported that the KRI Bung Tomo has extracted 40 dead bodies and counting. [The crew on KRI Bung Tomo] is very busy now,” said Simorangkir, as quoted by Tempo today. 

The bodies were found in the Air Asia QZ8501 search area, which is around 105 nautical miles southwest off the coast of Pangkalbun, Central Borneo.

Air Asia QZ8501, which had been missing since Sunday, was carrying 162 people on board.
