An actual screenshot from Internet-Positif.org that we’ve enhanced so you can see the penis enlargement pill ad more clearly
Internet Positif is the term the Indonesian government uses to put a positive spin on its censorship of the World Wide Web. In addition to pornography, Internet Positif also blocks numerous sites that people look at or use for legitimate, non-pornographic purposes such as Vimeo, Reddit, Funny or Die, and a wide variety of pages featuring information about sexual education or religious views the government deems dangerous.
So we couldn’t help but laugh hysterically when we saw Reddit user C00SH post this screenshot of Internet-Positif.org (the website Telkom and some other Internet users are directed to when they try to access a blocked website) featuring an ad for penis enhancement pills. We almost thought it was photoshopped until we checked out the site and confirmed it for ourselves with the above screenshot.
Now one could argue that an ad for penis pills is not exactly pornographic, but considering Internet Positif is there to “protect the children,” one must question whether this ad is appropriate for that site (although it’s definitely appropriate in terms of marketing – surely many men who just tried to look at porn were redirected to that site and thus would be an ideal audience for penis pill ads).
Of course, many in Indonesia would argue that a penis pill ad is pornographic. If you are one of those people, feel free to send an email to aduankonten@mail.kominfo.go.id and report Internet-Positif.org to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology so they can censor it appropriately.
