Although he only recently turned 13-years-old, Joey Alexander is undoubtedly one of the most widely praised Indonesian musicians on the world stage. Born in Bali, Joey was recognized as a shooting star by jazz greats in Indonesia and was eventually given the opportunity to take his career to the next level by working with musical legends in New York City.
In the last year, he dropped a highly successful first album and played at both the White House and the Grammys (where he was nominated for two awards).
That kind of year would be considered the culmination of an entire career for many other musicians, but it seems like Joey is just getting started. The jazz piano prodigy has been hard at work on his second album, “Countdown,” which is set to be released on September 16.
