Joey Alexander made all of us in Indonesia very proud when he performed in front of millions of viewers at the Grammy Awards back in February, earning a standing ovation from the VIPs of the music industry.
Now the 12-year-old, who was born in Bali and studied jazz in Jakarta before making the move to New York City five years ago to work with the genre’s leading musicians, is finally coming back to Jakarta for a performance that we are very much looking forward to.
The concert will be taking place at the JiExpo Center on May 22. Further information about the show, including ticket prices, have not yet been announced. But organizer iCanStudioLive has promised to release those details by the middle of this month.
Joey not only performed at the Grammy Awards, he was also nominated for awards in two categories: Best Improvised Jazz Solo for the song “Giant Step” and Best Jazz Instrumental Album for the album “My Favourite Things” (which topped the Billboard Jazz charts back in January). He is one of the youngest Grammy Award nominees in history, sharing that distinction with none other than Michael Jackson.
