The National Police’s Crime Investigations Agency (Bareskrim) today arrested Yulius Paonganan AKA Ongen, who is suspected to be the owner of the controversial Twitter account @ypaonganan.
It was reported that Yulius was arrested for uploading pornographic content on the internet, thus violating the Electronic Information and Transactions Act (UU ITE).
“[Yulius] spread pornographic content through his Twitter account @ypaonganan,” said an unnamed Bareskrim investigator, as quoted by Detik today.
Bareskrim currently has Yulius in custody for questioning.
Yulius’ Twitter account recently became the subject of controversy when he posted photos of President Joko Widodo sitting next to actress Nikita Mirzani, who was recently arrested in an alleged celebrity prostitution scandal.
Yulius posted the photos several times along with vulgar hashtags like #PapaDoyanLonte (Papa loves whores) and #PapaMintaPaha (Papa wants thighs), with “Papa” in this case referring to Jokowi.
It’s not clear if Yulius’ arrest was because of these posts (defamation would be a more apt criminal charge against him), but one would have to be a total prude to brand the photos as pornographic. However, Yulius did post a couple of other photos of an adult nature on Twitter.
