Police apprehend alleged celebrity prostitutes NM and PR and their pimps at 5-star Central Jakarta hotel

It looks like the nation will be talking about this and not much else for quite some time.

The National Police’s Crime Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) secured two female celebrities, identified by their initials NM and PR, at a 5-star hotel in Central Jakarta yesterday at around 9pm on suspicion they were working as prostitutes.

Bareskrim also arrested NM’s manager, identified by the initial F, and a man they believe was their pimp, O, who works at a high-end nightclub in Jakarta.

“Suspect O and suspect F were both charged with Article 2 Law no 21 in 2002 about human trafficking,” said Grand Commissioner Umar Fana, head of the Public Law Enforcement Sub-division at Bareskrim, as quoted by Kompas yesterday.

Meanwhile, both NM and PR are being treated as victims at this point in the case.

They were all apprehended last night during an undercover operation Bareskrim officers set up after receiving intel from Robbie Abbas, a pimp convicted in a separate celebrity prostitution case earlier this year. Bareskrim revealed that NM’s fare for three hours was between Rp 50 million to Rp 120 million.

Bareskrim also revealed that NM and PR’s clients were mostly executives and government officials.

While the police did not disclose their full identities, they did reveal that PR was a finalist in the Puteri Indonesia pageant.
