Julia “Jupe” Perez couldn’t hold back the tears when she revealed she is suffering from stage 2a cervical cancer.
At a launching event for her autobiography, ‘Jupe: My Uncut Story’ in Kemang this morning, Jupe said she was diagnosed with the cancer seven months ago and she brought along her biopsy as proof.
She admitted she couldn’t keep her illness a secret any longer, as she wants to receive well wishes from her fans. “I’ve been hiding it all this time,” she said.
In hindsight, Jupe revealed that she had suspicions of the cancer a while ago. When she suffered abnormal vaginal bleeding, she had herself checked at a hospital in Singapore.
“At first there was excessive bleeding. I said that it was just because I was exhausted. But after the biopsy in Singapore, I finally knew it was cancer,” said Jupe.

There’s no word yet on whether Jupe will carry on with her plan to have a baby via sperm donation. According to WebMD, one’s ability to bear children diminishes significantly even at the early stages of cervical cancer.
