WATCH: Primary school kid’s “ikan kontol” tongue slip in front of President Jokowi is adorably hilarious

Kids say the darndest things, indeed.

Now, this primary school student clearly did not mean to cuss in front of the nation’s leader, but he will probably forever be known his whole life as the kid who became a viral sensation by saying “kontol” (which is an incredibly dirty Indonesian slang word for “penis”)  in front of President Joko Widodo.

In the video, the kid was invited up on stage to be quizzed by Jokowi, who asked him to name different types of fish with the promise of a new bike as his reward. On his first attempt, the boy managed to list several types of fish (he also said whale, which is not a fish, but we’ll let him have it anyways) before the whole audience breaks into uncontrollable laughter when he said “ikan kontol”, which literally translates to “penis fish”.

What the kid actually meant to say – and he soon corrected himself – was “ikan tongkol”, which is mackerel tuna fish. But Jokowi, who was trying to contain his laughter throughout all this, asked the kid to say the names of the fish again, which was probably a bad idea because the kid totally said “ikan kontol” for a second time.

Despite unintentionally cussing in front of Jokowi twice, our good-humored president still said the boy could have his new bike.

According to Rimanews, the viral video was taken today at an education exhibition at the JIExpo Convention Center in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
