Police investigating possibility teen was ‘hypnotized’ by smoke before being sexually assaulted in Bogor

Many victims of crime in Indonesia claim they were hypnotized before the incident took place. They often allege that they were put under a criminal’s mental control by talking to them, making physical contact with them, or even through having a phone conversation with them.

Police are investigating the possibility that a 17-year-old girl from Bogor, a high-school student identified as S, was hypnotized after inhaling second hand smoke before she was sexually abused recently. According to S’s testimony to the police, she was alone at home when a stranger came to visit. S said the last thing she remembered was the stranger blowing smoke in her face.

“When she came to, the victim said she was naked and was experiencing pain in her genital area,” said Bojonggede District Precinct police officer Aiptu Utang, as quoted by Vivanews yesterday.

The assailant was gone by the time S regained consciousness. Her family then notified the police, who are investigating the case.

Authorities did not say whether or not they would carry a lab test to prove S’ claim that she was hypnotized after inhaling second hand smoke.

A representative of the Women and Children Protection Unit at the Depok Metro Police said they were looking into the possibility that S inhaled smoke from Tembakau Super Cap Gorilla (Gorilla Super Tobacco), which is a form of tobacco that is supposedly laced with the chemicals found in cannabis, giving its smokers a head rush. As of now, it is not yet categorized as an illegal narcotic by law, but the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) say its distribution, which is mainly done via online transactions, is being closely monitored.
