Google Street View captures awkward moment Indonesian woman falls off motorcycle

In their bid to conquer the world, internet giant Google has deployed countless cars equipped with high-tech cameras to capture immersive 360° panoramic views from streets around the world, all of which are available to the public through the Google Street View.

Google’s cars have been snapping photos of Indonesian streets too, including narrow streets in remote parts of Indonesia. One particular capture taken on December 2014 on Jalan Karangampel Timur, which is located on the outskirts of the city of Malang in East Java, is currently being buzzed about on social media and even by the mainstream media as Google seems to have inadvertently captured the moment an Indonesian woman fell off her motorcycle.

This is a screenshot of the lady that Google captured before her fall…

…and, if you rotate the camera north-west and shift forward a little, we can see the lady in mid-fall:

Ouch. We sure hope she didn’t suffer any serious injuries (especially since she wasn’t wearing a helmet). But, this being the internet, some netizens were less sympathetic of the lady’s misfortune.

One of the best captures on Google Maps :))

You can see the lady’s fall yourself on Google Street View using these coordinates.

It’s not easy to determine exactly why the lady fell, but, looking at the initial shot, it appears that she was driving dangerously close to the edge of the road (maybe to avoid the Google camera car?).

Despite this moment’s recent popularity in Indonesia, it still pales in comparison to the creepiest, funniest and just plain bizarre moments Google has captured in other parts of the world.
