Check out some awesome art exhibitions

You still have a chance to check out two intriguing art exhibitions that kicked off in 2016. First there’s “Tough Romance” by young Indonesian artist on the rise Natisha Jones at Ruci Art Space in Blok S. In the exhibit she allows audiences to explore the complex relationship between her conscious self and her inner child, searching for self-expression and meaning within the paradoxes that arise in life.

Then there’s “Shadow Dancer”, a solo exhibition at Art1: New Museum by I Nyoman Erawan, a Balinese artist who has earned praise internationally for his nuanced, complex works that have also proven controversial at times. His exhibition has been extended until the end of this month.

Groove to the sounds of Grammy-nominated starRo at Parc 19 Japanese DJ and producer starRo is known as “one of the faces of modern, forwarding-thinking R&B” and his progressive eclectic style earned him a nomination for the 2017 Grammys for best remixed recording for his take on “Heavy Star Movin'”. The fine folks from Globetrotter are bringing him to Parc 19 this Saturday for what’s sure to be a packed performance.

Get funky at Phunktion #119

If you’re looking for some high energy dance action Saturday night, Phunktion is probably your best bet. Known as Jakarta’s longest running drum and bass night (yes, there have in fact been 118 previous Phunktion parties) the thumping beats at Borneo Beer House in Kemang will definitely clear your mind and move your body.

Get down with Bryan Adams (Monday)

Okay it’s on Monday so not technically the weekend, but we know a lot of people who are really looking forward to Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams coming to Jakarta and so there are probably some people who would be devastated to hear they had missed out on it as well. Adams will be playing songs off of his latest album, “Get Up”, as well as many of his all time greatest hits like “Cuts Like a Knife”, “Straight From The Heart”, “Can’t Stop This Thing We Started”, “Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman” and more. You can purchase tickets for the show directly at bryanadamsjakarta.com.
