If you need to renew or create new vehicle ownership documents like the STNK and BPKB, you might want to do it today before the administrative fees for the service increase twofold or more tomorrow.
Vehicle Document Registration Centers (Samsat) have reportedly been more crowded than usual in the past few days as a result of the planned price hike, but Jakartans will be given additional opportunity to sort out their vehicle documents today.
As tweeted by TMC Polda Metro Jaya, the Jakarta Metro Traffic Police’s official Twitter account, all Samsats in the city will be open until 10 pm today.
This might be a wise move too, considering this photo below of a crowded Samsat in Blok M taken this afternoon is representative of the condition in many Samsats throughout the city today:
Starting tomorrow, the administrative fee for issuing or renewal of the STNK will increase from Rp 50,000 to Rp 100,000 for motorcycles and Rp 75,000 to Rp 200,000 for four-wheeled vehicles. For the BPKB, the fee will increase from Rp 80,000 to Rp 275,000 for two or three-wheeled vehicles, and from Rp 100,000 to Rp 375,000 for four-wheeled vehicles.
