In a video which went viral almost instantly on social media yesterday, a woman (who claimed to work for the Supreme Court – a claim which was later confirmed) reacted to getting a ticket from a police officer for trying to enter the busway lane in her car by screaming at the officer and attacking him repeatedly in the middle of traffic.
Many were impressed that the cop, identified as Adjunct First Inspector (Aiptu) Sutisna, showed incredible restraint by not fighting back against his attacker in the video. Sutisna’s deed has not gone unrecognized, as Jakarta Metro Police Chief Inspector General M. Iriawan gave him an award today for his professionalism and patience in handling an angry citizen.
“The police chief awarded Aiptu Sutisna of the Jakarta Metro Police’s Traffic Directorate,” said Jakarta Metro Police Spokesman Argo Yuwono, as quoted by Vivanews today.
Argo added that Sutisna’s award did not mean he was getting a promotion, but it is still good to see cops in Indonesia being recognized and rewarded for acting professionally towards the public.
Meanwhile, the attacker, identified as Dora Natalia, is now experiencing her 15 minutes of fame in the worst way possible, as her social media channels are becoming flooded with hateful comments from netizens.
The investigation into her alleged assault of Aiptu Sutisna is still ongoing. The police say they are still questioning Dora regarding the incident.
