Anybody who doubts that humans can love animals just as much as their own children hasn’t watched this.
Recently, this video of an old man bursting into hysterical tears over his dead cat has gone massively viral on social media in Indonesia, with his raw display of absolute sorrow touching many and moving them to share.
The old man repeatedly wails and screams, “Ya Allah!” (Oh God!) while clutching the dead feline close to him. At one point, he even bangs his body and head against the wooden floor as he screams in heartbroken agony.
The video, which has already been shared over 67,000 times and viewed 2.7 million times on Facebook at the time of writing, was first uploaded by Ozilzain, a resident of Pamekasan, East Java.
The language the old man spoke in the video is not quite clear, but according to a thorough analysis of the video by Tuan Meong, a cat lovers’ blog, it appears that he was speaking Maduranese, a regional dialect originating from Madura Island in Indonesia.
According to Tuan Meong, the old man begged to God that he be taken away from this world in order to join his cat in the afterlife.
Considering the large size of the cat, it’s possible that it and the old man had spent many years together. We can only hope that the old man will somehow be able to find peace after his beloved cat’s death.
