GrabBike driver stabbed following brush with assailant’s motorcycle in Manggarai

A man identified as Z, a 20-year-old driver for the app-based motorcycle taxi company GrabBike, became the victim of a violent road rage incident in Manggarai, South Jakarta, yesterday.

Z was reportedly driving on Jalan Saharjo towards Manggarai train station at around 6:30 pm when his motorcycle accidentally brushed against that of his assailant, a 22-year-old man identified as F.

A livid F then forced Z off of his motorcycle before beating him up and stabbing him with a knife. There are also reports that F got around 10 of his friends to gang up on Z.

Locals soon came to the scene to stop the beating, and F drove away on his motorcycle.

Thankfully, the police found him not long afterwards.

“The suspect was apprehended at 10 pm. He was arrested at Tangkuban Perahu Park in Pasar Manggis,” said Tebet Police Chief Commissioner Nurdin A. Rahman, as quoted by Vivanews.

The police have not revealed what charges F would face for his alleged crime.

The victim, the extent of whose injury also wasn’t disclosed, was taken to Tebet Hospital for treatment.
