5 Cool Things To Do in Jakarta This Weekend (Nov 11-12)

Get down to world-renowned DJ Sanders Van Doorn at Colosseum (Friday Night)

Dutch DJ Sander Van Doorn has been ranked among the best DJs in the world for over a decade and was named #10 in the world in 2009. Known for blending Electro and Progressive House with Tech Trance, he is one of the best dancefloor DJs in the biz.

Party to the funky tunes of Diskopantera at Loewy (Friday Night)

Diskopantera is one of our favorite local DJs, consistently producing funky throwback beats with ‘80s and ‘90s flavor without relying purely on nostalgia to get bodies-a-boogeying. He’ll be taking over the decks at Loewy tonight for their “Wild Night With Jagermeister” party and we expect there will be many folks tossing back ice-cold shots of the powerful German spirit and getting down to Diskopanteras tunes.

Enjoy a magical musical experience at My Little Pony – Rainbow Rocks

Kids aren’t the only ones who love My Little Ponies these days – ever heard of Bronies? Whatever your age, we won’t judge you if you want to check out this musical featuring such popular ponies such as Twilight Sparkle or Rainbow Dash as well as the human/pony hybrid singers The Dazzlings. The musical is being performed at the Sheraton Grand Jakarta 3 times on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Tickets start at Rp 360k. For more info.

Enjoy an innovative modern dance performance produced by famed actress Sekar Sari (Saturday Afternoon)

“Suatu Rumah oleh Sekar Sari” (“A House by Sekar Sari”) is a contemporary dance performance that tells the story of a home and the dreams, myths and hopes of the people who live in it. The performance combines dance with video art and live music. Sekar Sari is an award-winning actress (who won much critical acclaim for her performance in last year’s “Siti”) who also just completed a master’s degree in dance from Erasmus Mundus and this new production combines her passion for both drama and dance. The performance will take place at Gallery Kaya in Grand Indonesia at Saturday at 3pm (arrive early to get tickets). For more info.

Get on your feet to the luscious tunes of Laidback Luke (Saturday)

Sanders Vor Doorn isn’t the only legendary Dutch DJ coming to Jakarta this weekend. Born in the Philippines, Lucas Cornelis van Scheppingen, better known as Laidback Luke, is often ranked amongst the top DJs in the world. He’s another dancefloor favorite and his electro house mixes are sure to get the crowd at Blowfish bouncing this Saturday.
