It is not just rich Indonesian kids who get their ridiculously expensive sports cars into crashes here – privileged foreign kids are apparently equally capable of reckless driving.
A red Ferrari, driven by a young bule, reportedly crashed into a road divider on Jl Metro Pondok Indah, in front of Futsal Pondok Indah in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta last night. The accident created congestion leading all the way to Pondok Indah Mall 1.
The incident took place at about 10:15 pm and ended with the Ferrari up on the sidewalk.
Fortunately there were no casualties, although apparently the front of the car was heavily damaged.
One witness to the incident, a 25-year-old named Dewo, told Tribunnews the car emitted a loud noise from its exhaust as the driver tried to back it off the sidewalk.
Dewo also said the driver looked like a rich young foreigner who he suspected was drunk from his behavior.
“He seemed like a regular rich kid. The way he acted was very inconsiderate,” Dewo said.
No word yet on whether the police have arrested the driver or what he will be charged with.
