Viral: Birthday girl egged and tied to a post in shocking birthday “prank”

There’s really not that much to look forward to when one celebrates their birthday in Indonesia. At the very least, it’s customary within many Indonesian cultures and social groups for the birthday boy/girl to treat their friends to a meal. And then, at the more extreme end of the spectrum, the birthday boy/girl may become the victims of pranks that could get incredibly nasty like this one.

A set of photos originally posted on Facebook recently went viral, showing just how far a group of friends were willing to go to play a “prank” on this poor birthday girl.

The original uploader of the photos (which have since been deleted from Facebook), wrote that she wished the girl a happy birthday and that this prank was retribution, presumably for a past birthday prank.

The uploader wrote that the group of friends threw eggs at the birthday girl’s face and mouth, to the point that she cried. She concluded they’ll do the same to the next girl in the group to celebrate her birthday.

And, as the photos show, the birthday girl was not able to dodge the eggs or retaliate as she was helplessly tied to a post with what appears to be her hijab.

The identities of these girls are unknown and their faces were censored on suspicion that they’re still underage, but this happened in Indonesia as evidenced by their Pramuka Girl Scout uniforms.

Netizens widely condemned the cruel prank on the birthday girl, but many say they have suffered similar pranks on their birthday before.

Back in my day we used to throw eggs mixed with flour and water, but never this cruel. This is like torture, like she’s been beaten up, this is way out of line. The youth of today are too much, I hope my children don’t turn out like this.

Not funny! Her hijab was taken off and used to tie her to a post in public! I have also had egg and flour thrown at me, but never had my aurat (a woman’s intimate parts according to Islam) exposed in public. This is TOO MUCH.
