Garuda Indonesia named world’s “most loved airline” with highest customer satisfaction score

Things keep looking up for national carrier Garuda Indonesia.

Fresh off winning the “World’s Best Airline Cabin Crew” award by airline reviews and rating site Skytrax for the third year running, the website this week also named Garuda the world’s “most loved airline” in a customer satisfaction survey of more than 420 airlines around the world. Garuda scored a satisfaction score of 85%, followed closely by South Korea’s Asiana Airlines with 83% and Taiwan’s EVA Air with 81%.

For the survey, customers rated airlines “across eight categories that include seat comfort, onboard services, food & beverages, inflight entertainment, onboard wifi, airport services and value for money.”

Garuda Indonesia President Director Arif Wibowo dedicated the achievement to the airline’s employees, writing in a press statement ,“This success is inseparable from the thousands of hands who work hard to always give the best service as a five-star airline to passengers.”

The next few years will be crucial for Garuda if it wants to maintain its reputation as one of the top airlines in the world. The airline has moved its base domestic operations to Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport’s brand new Terminal 3, and plans to move its international operations there as well next year. It is also planning to enter the US market in 2017.

However, despite all the optimistic signs of growth, Garuda produced a net loss of US$63 million in the first half of 2016.
