Nintendo has a Pokemon GO server ready for Indonesia, official launch likely coming soon

Despite the fact that the crazy popular augmented reality mobile game is not yet officially available here, you are probably well aware (painfully aware, if you’re a Pokemon hater) that Pokemon GO fever has already swept across Indonesia, addicting countless players and forcing numerous government agencies to ban their employees from playing the game – not to mention the security concerns it is causing for top officials (concerns which might kind of be justified).

So far, Indonesian players have managed to circumvent poke-regulations by illicitly installing the game on their phones, but it looks like Nintendo has already prepared the servers necessary for the game to be legitimately launched here, which is likely to lead to a flood of new players.

According to MMOserverstatus.com, a website that tracks the main servers used by massively multiplayer online games, Nintendo recently installed numerous servers for Pokemon GO in a number of countries where it has not yet officially been launched, including Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and yes, Indonesia.

The status for the new Asian servers, as well as those in South American countries including Brazil and Argentina, was noticed by folks on the Pokemon GO Reddit forum yesterday, although it is not clear exactly when they were added.

The red x status next to those countries indicates that their servers are not currently operational to the public, but are online, presumably for testing. It is also a strong indication that those countries will be the next to receive an official launch – though neither Nintendo nor Niantic (the company which created and manages Pokemon GO) have officially announced which countries the game will be launched in next.

Japan is the most recent country to have received an official launch, but as of the time of writing, the Japanese server is down – presumably because everybody in Japan took the day off so they could play the game.
