UPDATE #1: We got a tip from our that one of the men in the car is actually NBA player Mason Plumlee, who plays for the Portland Trail Blazers.
This photo from Plumlee’s Instagram account confirms he was in Jakarta 2 days ago. One of the other men in the picture also bears a strong resemblance to the other man in the car.
We are reaching out to Mason on social media in the hopes that he can confirm that he is one of the people in the photo and let us all know what he was doing handing out those dollar bills. We’ll update this page if we hear back from him.
It seems nobody told these generous gentlemen that Jakarta is not Las Vegas.
Two unidentified bules caused quite a sensation yesterday afternoon when they were pictured handing out US dollar bills out of an open car sunroof.
According to the Twitter post, the picture was taken on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan going towards Gambir train station.
Perhaps the Jakarta macet robbed these bule of their sanity. Or maybe they thought they could pay people to get out of their way so they could free themselves from the macet (spoiler: they can’t).
The police say they’re investigating the identities of these two charitable caucasians. It’s not yet known how much money the two actually handed out.
