The dynamic duo from Bandung’s latest show, called “Hypnagogic Journey” will combine their signature brand of pulsating electro with pantomime, poetry and live visuals to create a truly one-of-a-kind performance. Enjoy the Middle Eastern art of movement at Bellydance Jakarta’s Summer Hafla (Saturday)
Jakarta has a large and vibrant bellydancing community of practitioners of the sensual Middle Eastern dance art. You can watch them shimmy their stuff this Saturday at their Summer Hafla, taking place at Maroush restaurant in the Crown Plaza Hotel. Doors open at 7:30pm and tickets are Rp 350k at the door, including a buffet dinner.
Get a taste of old Batavia on this culinary walking tour of Kota Tua (Sunday)
There’s not only a ton of history to be found in Jakarta’s Kota Tua district, but a ton of delicious food as well. Jakarta Food Adventure, which organizes a number of cool tours around Jakarta, is having a special charity walking tour “Explore Kota Tua & The Taste of Dutch and Betawi Culinary”. In addition to learning all about the rich history of the area, you’ll get to taste a wide variety of old school Dutch and Indonesian delights like poffertjes, bitterballen, kerak telor and babanci soup. There will also be coffee tasting and a cooking demo. Tickets are Rp 250k and proceeds go to benefit the charity “Pulau Sahabat”.
