Police finally has enough evidence to take cyanide coffee murder suspect Jessica Wongso to court

Jessica Wongso, the sole suspect in the cyanide poisoning murder of Wayan Mirna Salihin that took place in January, is finally going to be taken to court after the police announced that they had completed her case dossier today.

Jessica was due to be released from police custody on May 28, by which time she would have had to be released by law after being in police custody for 120 days. The Jakarta High Prosecutors had already rejected the Jakarta Metro Police’s motion to take Jessica to court four times because they deemed the evidence gathered against the suspect was inconclusive.

“The crime dossier was received and inspected by prosecutors and it is now deemed complete,” said M. Nasrun, general crimes assistant at the Jakarta High Prosecutors’ Office, as quoted by Okezone today.

The Jakarta Metro Police will soon hand over the suspect and all the evidence gathered. The date for the trial has not been set, but Nasrun said that it would start very soon.

Wayan Mirna Salihin’s father, Edi Darmawan Salihin, spoke to Okezone about his delight that his daughter’s suspected murderer is finally going to be taken to court.

“My answer is just one: Allah is great. Allah doesn’t sleep,” he said.
