The ear stays: Haji Lulung says sliced ear bet over Ahok only applied for two days

Oh well, the fun is over before it even began – Jakarta City Council Vice Chairman Abraham “Haji Lulung” Lunggana is not going to cut off his ear after all.

In case you didn’t hear about his latest ridiculousness, last week Haji Lulung bet, to nobody in particular, that he would cut off his ear if Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama sued the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) over supposed discrepancies in their Sumber Waras Hospital land purchase audit report.

What Lulung didn’t mention was that his bet had an expiry date.

“I gave Ahok two days, kok. If it’s been more than two days, then [the bet is off],” he said, as quoted by Tribun on Saturday.

Haji Lulung made that bet on Thursday, meaning that the bet is already off, fortunately for him.

However, as Tribun pointed out, Lulung did not mention any deadlines when he originally made the bet. It’s probably safe to assume that he copped out as soon as he realized how stupid his wager was after Ahok asked “…how far is he going to cut his ear? Until it all comes off or just a slice?”
