The high school girl in the above video may be the most infamous in Indonesia at the moment, at least judging by social media.
The video, taken yesterday afternoon in Medan, North Sumatra, shows a group of high school girls arguing with a policewoman regarding a ticket violation. They had just been riding in a car that was part of a student convoy celebrating the end of National Exams.
Police stopped the girls’ Honda Brio for traveling with its trunk open. Police Inspector Perida Panjaitan told the driver she would be getting a ticket for the violation, but the young woman told the policewoman that would be a mistake.
“Ok Bu, I am not playing around ya, I’ll remember you. I am the daughter of Arman Depari,” she says, pointing at the police officer.
Inspector Perida manages to keep her cool and just replies “Yes, yes, ok sure…”
A reporter at the scene asks if the girl is in fact referring to Brigadier General Arman Depari, deputy head for narcotics eradication at the National Narcotics Agency (BNN). The girl sounds defensive but doesn’t answer directly. Some of her friends cover up their faces and one can be heard saying, “I’m so embarrassed.”
Eventually Inspector Perida lets the girls go and tells them to go home directly and not join any more convoys.
Yesterday evening, Tribunnews contacted Arman Depari, who confirmed that the girl could not possibly have been his daughter.
“My child is not this girl, the one in the news is not my child. I have three sons and they all live in Jakarta,” he said.
Arman said he has asked police in Medan to search for the girl, although he did not say whether she should be charged with any crimes.
Police shouldn’t have too much trouble finding the girl, considering her newfound fame.
