Look, many of you probably don’t take controversial pop star Ahmad Dhani’s Jakarta gubernatorial aspirations seriously at all. But Dhani seems like he’s really trying to convince people that he has some political substance.
So, er, perhaps that is why, as part of his preparations to enter the gubernatorial race in 2017, Dhani recently showed off what would be his official campaign outfit, as shown here in this photo where he is posing with his son:
Well, at the very least, it looks like Dhani has learned his lesson about his fashion choices. In case you didn’t know, he caused a huge controversy back in 2014 when he appeared in a music video supporting Prabowo Subianto’s bid for presidency while wearing a Nazi SS uniform (yep, this guy is seriously running governor of Jakarta).
An eagle-eyed reporter pointed out to Dhani that his campaign outfit bore a resemblance to what Jokowi wore during his 2014 presidential campaign:
Dhani, who is known to be a very vocal critic of Jokowi, didn’t seem like he appreciated the comparison.
“But he (Jokowi) didn’t wear a tie. It’s different. Jokowi is also not handsome, unlike me,” he said, as quoted by Kapan Lagi yesterday.
Dhani is apparently so confident in his campaign that he decided to dis the former Jakarta governor and current president of Indonesia.
Does he get that cockiness from his (self-proclaimed) good looks? Well he’ll need it to convince the people of Jakarta to choose him, a man with zero practical experience in politics, over established politicians like incumbent Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama and other potential candidates like Adhyaksa Dault and Yusril Ihza Mahendra.
