“Pocong” cloth wrap thought to contain monkey bones spooks Pasar Minggu

The pocong is definitely one of the most terrifying Indonesian supernatural beings out there, but do they really exist?

Well, yesterday something that closely resembles a pocong spooked locals at Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

Two men were cleaning the sewers on the side of Jalan Kebagusan II when they found something wrapped in white cloth and tied at both ends, just like a pocong.

When they opened the half-meter long wrap, they were shocked to find that it contained nothing but bones.

Locals seem to have taken the issue seriously as Pasar Minggu Police Chief Commissioner Zaky Nasution himself confirmed the finding. However, he believes the bones weren’t human.

“Just looking at it, it appears that they’re the bones of an animal,” Zaky told Tempo, before adding that they’re possibly monkey bones.

The bones were taken to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital to determine whether they came from an animal or a person.

We’ll be watching for developments in this case with intrigue. Supernatural skepticism aside, we hope that the bones were from an actual pocong that disintegrated rather than being the bones of an animal, or worse, a child.
