Hollywood producer behind ‘Terminator’ onboard with $10 million Indonesian action flick ‘Foxtrot Six’

The Indonesian film industry has slowly been gaining more international credibility recently, in large part due to the strength of action blockbusters ‘The Raid’ and ‘The Raid 2’. Now, our local film industry has gotten another huge boost with news from Variety that veteran Hollywood producer Mario Kassar has signed on to executive produce Indonesian sci-fi action flick ‘Foxtrot Six’, which will reportedly have a budget of $10 million (which is more than 10 times higher than the funding for most big-budget Indonesian films).

Kassar definitely knows how to make a blockbuster action movie, having worked as a producer on such legendary titles as ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day’, ‘Rambo’, ‘Stargate’ and the original ‘Total Recall’.

‘Foxtrot Six’ will be directed by first time Indonesian director Randy Korompis and will apparently be the first of six “Hollywood-style franchise movies” from Southeast Asia.

If you have any doubts that the action in this film will be legit, you should know it’s being co-produced by Ario Sagantoro, who produced both Raid films. He’ll also be bringing along his Raid stars and fight choreographers Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman, who will soon be seen on screens all over the globe in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.

Variety is reporting that production on the film will start in the first half of next year, with shooting taking place in both Indonesia and the US, with a projected release date of 2017. We can’t wait to hear more about this project!
