After mistaking it for a mannequin, cleaner discovers dead woman floating in canal in front of Central Park mall

The body of an unidentified dead woman was found floating in a canal right in front of Central Park mall this morning.

Cleaner Deni Kuswara was tasked with cleaning the canal this morning when he found the body.

“The body was found floating face down,” said Jakarta Metro Police Spokesman Grand Commissioner Mohammad Iqbal, as quoted by Vivanews today.

Deni described to the police that he initially thought the body was a mannequin tossed away from one of the mall’s stores. He then realized the body was of a dead woman after poking it with a stick.

The identity of the deceased is still unknown, though authorities believe the woman was around 50-years-old when she died.

The body was taken to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for an autopsy.
