Actor Sandy Tumiwa arrested for investment fraud, dangdut star Annisa Bahar and socialites among victims

The Jakarta Police arrested actor Sandy Tumiwa in Palmerah this morning on suspicion of investment fraud. He is believed to have scammed billions of rupiah from his victims.

“Dangdut star Annisa Bahar and a few socialites were among his victims,” said Grand Commissioner Krishna Murti, director of the Public Crimes Investigation Agency at the Jakarta Police, as quoted by Detik today.

Krishna explained that Sandy and his unnamed partner in crime offered their victims to invest in a dummy company, PT CSM Bintang Indonesia, promising them high monthly returns.

“Annisa Bahar lost Rp 60 million, but the losses from her downline amounted to more than Rp 2 billion,” said Adjunct Grand Commissioner Fadli Widianto, head of the Public Crimes Investigation Agency’s National Security sub-directorate at the Jakarta Police.

Sandy has reportedly carried out the scam since 2012. It’s unclear what criminal charges he and his accomplice would face at this point.
