Haji Lulung believes Ahok has to be corrupt, says corruption watchdog is biased towards the governor

Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama’s leadership style may divide opinions, but there are very few people who would accuse the governor of corruption.

However, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) Jakarta chapter has been investigating Ahok and the provincial government for accusations of marking up land prices for the construction of a hospital in West Jakarta.

Ahok has in turn accused the BPK of unfairly targeting him and doesn’t believe the agency will find anything to prove their claims. And yesterday, Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW), an independent corruption watchdog, reported the head of BPK Jakarta to the agency’s Ethics Council for misusing his credentials for personal gain in a land dispute case in Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta.

Abraham “Haji Lulung” Lunggana, Vice Chairman of the Jakarta City Council (DPRD), who has been a long-time vocal enemy of Ahok, criticized ICW and accused them of being biased towards the governor.

“I’m criticizing [ICW]. Why did ICW change? Aren’t you ashamed, ICW?” Haji Lulung said today, as quoted by Vivanews.

“You can’t say Ahok is clean [from corruption]. He must be investigated.”

Haji Lulung even went as far as accusing ICW of no longer being independent and operating for its own political gains.

Since accusations are being thrown all over the place, we’d also like to point out that Haji Lulung himself has been investigated in corruption allegations. But the councilor was so confident of his innocence that he proclaimed he and his family should be buried alive if he was proven to be corrupt.
