Arsenal star Mesut Özil dons red tie and white shirt to wish Indonesia a happy Independence Day

Arsenal fans in Indonesia (and there are many, many of them here) probably went nuts when the above photo went viral. You can just tell by how it has already received over 200 thousand likes (mostly by Indonesians) in less than a day.

For those in the dark about Arsenal FC or football in general, that’s German World Cup winner and Arsenal superstar Mesut Özil. And he does look dashing in the red tie and white shirt.

Wish all Indonesians a very happy 70th Independence Day, peace, prosperity and growth! #RedAndWhite #Indonesia #IndependenceDay

The photo was reportedly taken right after Arsenal overcame Crystal Palace 1-2 during their English Premier League matchup on Sunday. It seems Özil is fully aware of the huge Arsenal fan base in Indonesia, and the German is renowned as a player who really devotes himself to his fans.

Özil the humble football superstar is also famous for his generosity. After the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, in which Germany emerged victorious, Özil donated his World Cup winning bonus to pay for the surgeries of 23 children as a “thank you to the hospitality of the people of Brazil”.
