Ragunan Zoo, the massive inner city zoo than some of us just can’t be bothered to visit because, well, it’s kind of shabby, is getting two new presents for Independence Day.
The zoo will be home to two new giraffes from Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia. They are scheduled to arrive on August 17.
The Jakarta provincial government says it is in the process of beautifying the zoo, as well as adding a larger variety of animals into the zoo, including the two giraffes.
The two giraffes have not yet been named.
Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama is scheduled to inaugurate the giraffes’ new enclosure when they arrive.
“We’ll let the Jakarta governor welcome [the giraffes] and we’ll give him the opportunity to name the two giraffes,” said Bambang Triyono, head of Ragunan Zoo’s Public Services Unit, as quoted by Warta Kota yesterday.
Ahok’s at least got some time to look up giraffe names online before the big event.
