If you plan on scoring a few pornographic titles from pirated DVD haven Glodok anytime soon (hey, we won’t judge!), prepare to be disappointed.
The police recently busted a pirate porn DVD production factory in Pulogadung, East Jakarta. The factory was apparently able to produce 2,000 DVDs per day to be sold in Glodok.
“This case initially started from investigating the sale of porn DVDs online. It turned out [the website admin] was linked to the supplier of the majority of porn DVDs in Glodok,” said Agung Marlianto of the Jakarta Police’s Special Crimes Investigation Unit, as quoted by Kompas today.
The admin, identified by his initials DV, was arrested in Cikarang, Bekasi. His arrest led to the arrest of MR, who ran the DVD factory in Pulogadung.
“There, we confiscated 11 [DVD] duplicating tools and 9,000 DVDs,” said Iwan Kurniawan, deputy director of the Jakarta Police’s Special Crimes Investigation Unit.
The police also arrested three workers at the factory.
The suspects could face up to 12 years in prison for spreading pornography and a further 2 years for film piracy.
