If the traffic this morning wasn’t terrible enough for you, don’t worry, it’s going to get a whole lot worse later this week.

The Jakarta Police Directorate of Traffic announced that they will close six major road on April 22-23, in the morning and afternoon, to clear the paths for delegates to the Asian-African Conference.

The director of traffic for the Jakarta Police, Commissioner Risyapudin, said the roads that will be closed are Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Jalan Rasuna Said, and the roads going towards Senayan and Blok M.

“The center [of the closures] will be at Semanggi,” Risyapudin said today, as quoted by Kompas

The roads will be closed in the morning from 6 am until 10 am. Risyapudin said this was because delegates needed to arrive at the Jakarta Convention Center at 9 am and most are scheduled to depart their hotels at 6:30 am.

Risyapudin said the times when the roads will be closed in the afternoon were not yet decided as they would be adjusted to the schedules of the delegates as they returned to their hotels.

The police traffic director also said there would be situational road closures done today and tomorrow.
