Indonesia has been fighting a battle against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which counter-terrorism experts say have been aggressively recruiting Indonesian citizens to their cause.

On Saturday afternoon, Jakarta police arrested a man named Robby Risa Putra, aka Robi, who they suspect of being an ISIS recruiter.

Robi, who lives in Kebon Jeruk, was arrested at a hotel in Petamburan, West Jakarta, by officers from Indonesia’s counter-terrorism unit Densus 88. Robi’s wife and two children, who were also at the hotel, were also taken into custody.

“The suspect is suspected of facilitating those citizens who intended to join ISIS in Syria,” said Acting National Police Chief Badrodin Haiti on Sunday as quoted by Tribunnews

Badrodin said that Robi’s arrest was the result of investigations into other Indonesian citizens with alleged ISIS ties. They are currently examining evidence seized during Robi’s arrest, including numerous financial records, to further develop their case.
