Karma’s a Cock: Lightning strikes seven people in cockfighting ring, three die

Roosters are meant to cluck, not fight.

Gamblers in Boreng Village in Lumajang, East Java, probably did not expect to face Mother Nature’s wrath when they inhumanely pitted roosters against each other in an illegal cockfighting ring last night.

Heavy rain poured on their chicken gladiator bout and eventually a bolt of lightning struck seven people out of nowhere, killing three.

“Three people died on the spot of the cockfighting ring whereas four others were taken to the Hariyoto Hospital in Lumajang. But [the four] have returned to their families,” said Hendro Wahono of the Lumajang Disaster Prevention Agency, as quoted by Antara today.

There’s no word as to the condition of the roosters after the lightning strike. We hope they’re all okay and are clucking around freely.

As for the lightning strike victims, we hate to say this, but that’s karma for you.
