Inappropriate Avengers: 10 hilarious photos of superheroes behaving badly by Jakarta photographer Edy Harjo

(Please give the Facebook photos a moment to load, it’s worth it trust us!)

Superheroes are sometimes described as modern day gods, so it’s always fun to see them acting just like regular people.

Indonesian photographer Edy Harjo has made an artform out of that concept, using his camera, a collection of high-end action figures and a sharp eye for visual humor to create photos that have already gone viral around the world.

Edy’s latest claim to fame is topping the the weekly Top 10 art competition put on by the school of legendary special effects designer Stan Winston.  His work also got a shout-out by none other than the Hulk himself, Mark Ruffalo, on the actor’s personal Tumblr page

Edy, who lives in Jakarta and has a degree in chemical engineering, says he initially took up photography as a hobby so that he could take better pictures for his online store.

The budding photographer quickly improved his craft while also becoming intrigued with the newest generation of highly detailed action figures and the photographic possibilities they offered. But he didn’t want to pose them the same ways other photographers and diorama makers often did.

In an interview with Shutterbug magazine, Edy explained how he comes up with his hilarious superhero scenarios:

“I use my daily experience as source of ideas. I found out that sometimes even a serious thing or moment (if combined with certain act) can be funny. The recipe is “wrong combination.” All I do is replace the “usual” thing with the “unusual.”
