Ahok to report the Jakarta City Council to the KPK over Regional Budget irregularities

It looks like Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has had it with the Jakarta City Council. Ahok plans on reporting the City Council to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) over irregularities in the 2015 Jakarta Regional Budget (APBD).

Ahok said he uncovered a hidden budget of Rp 12.1 trillion in the City Council’s 2015 APBD proposal to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Just as the City Council previously threatened to impeach Ahok for proposing the Provincial Government’s own version of the 2015 APBD proposal to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ahok too is planning on exercising his right to report the City Council to the authorities.

“We’ll see. They have the right of inquiry for my alleged mistakes, whereas I, as an ordinary citizen, do not have the same rights. But the authorities have the right of inquiry,” Ahok said today, as quoted by Warta Kota

“Don’t they have the right to investigate the City Council’s madness? I can ask for help from the Attorney General, the police, and the KPK to investigate the game the City Council is playing with the APBD.”

Ahok suspects that the City Council secretly worked in the Rp 12.1 trillion into the budget proposal without the Provincial Government’s knowledge in an attempt at a corrupt cash grab.
