Depok is having all sorts of crises regarding transportation safety. In addition to the city having the most cases of violent motorcycle robberies these days, it seems Depok citizens must also be wary of using public transportation.

The Depok Police are hunting down two angkot minivan drivers who are suspected of raping Bunga, a mentally challenged 16-year-old girl. Authorities have already apprehended two other suspects, Raihan (24) and Sugeng (29), for the heinous crime.

Raihan and Sugeng admitted to raping the victim, but they say two more rapists are on the loose.

“Not just us two sir, there were two others who participated. Yes, there were four of us in total. The two who got away were Luki and Firman, sir,” Raihan told investigators, as quoted by Vivanews on Sunday.

The apprehended suspects revealed that they found the victim lost for direction in Depok Terminal on Saturday. They offered her help by driving her to her destination, but kidnapped her instead. The victim was taken to one of the suspect Raihan’s rented house and raped.

Neighbors heard screams coming out of Raihan’s house. When they broke into the house, the victim was already naked and exhausted. The neighbors managed to capture two suspects while the other two ran away.

“From the victim’s testimony, she said the four suspects took turns in sexually assaulting her. We’re thoroughly investigating the case,” said Prihatin, head of the Integrated Police Services Unit at the Depok Police.

The victim is being treated at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital. The two suspects – and the other two if they’re apprehended – will be charged with 12 years in prison each for violating Laws on Child Protection.
