It’s e-official! Jalan Sabang gets electronic parking meters

After four months of delays, the electronic parking meters in Jalan Agus Salim (Sabang), Central Jakarta, are operational.

According to Kompas, Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama arrived at Jalan Sabang in formal batik attire to head a small launch ceremony that marks the beginning of the future of vehicle parking in Jakarta.

Motorists can no longer pay for parking using coins.

“From now on coin payment is not applicable anymore. All the parking meters use e-money,” said Sunardi Sinaga, head of the Jakarta Vehicle Parking Development Agency, as quoted by Kompas today.

Motorists are now able to pay for parking in Jalan Sabang using e-money cards issued by Bank DKI, BCA, BNI, BRI, Bank Mandiri, and Bank Mega.
