6 awesome all-you-can-eat restaurant deals in Jakarta for less than Rp 150k: Tacos, Korean BBQ, Indian and more!

Here at Coconuts Jakarta, we love to stuff ourselves silly with good food. So, naturally, we’re always on the lookout for good all-you-can-eat meal deals. While our city has plenty of great buffets at its high-end hotels, they’re usually so expensive that even we couldn’t justify going to them more than a few times a year. But you don’t have to save up for a special occasion to treat yourself to an amazingly delicious all-you-can-eat feast, as we intend to show you.

Here are six great international restaurants that have all-you-can-eat offers for under Rp. 150,000.

Kogikogi

Grill-it-yourself Korean BBQ is awesome, but at most restaurants it’s also quite pricey as you must pay for each plate of thinly sliced meat, which quickly adds up if you’re hungry. Not so at Kogikogi, an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ joint in Senopati. For just Rp 99k during lunch on weekdays, you get several plates of deliciously marinated chicken, pork and even Australian beef bulgogi. And when you’re done, you can ask for more. And more! There’s also a buffet with traditional Korean accompaniments like rice, lettuce wraps, crisp jeon (savory pancakes) and several varieties of kimchi. The quality is so good that we’re happy to pay the evening or weekend price of Rp 199k (which also comes with a few extras like pork belly) but the lunch deal of Rp 99k is an unbelievable bargain. Kogikogi, Jl Wolter Monginsidi No.85, Senopati, South Jakarta. (021) 7264999

Ssikkek

Another great all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ restaurant, Ssikkek is located on the outside of Kelapa Gading’s Mall of Indonesia. You can take your chosen meat, including beef bulgogi, pork belly and shrimp, straight from the buffet, as well as a variety of Korean delicacies such as pork wontons, chicken sausage and, of course, kimchi. Their weekday lunch buffet is Rp 115,900 while the dinner and weekend buffet is only Rp 135,900. But keep an eye on your watch as there’s a two hour time limit on the all-you-can-eat.

Ssikkek, Kompleks Kelapa Gading Square (Mall of Indonesia shopfront), Jl. Boulevard Barat Raya Blok A No. 5&6 (next to Bank ICBC), Kelapa Gading. (021) 29364049

Royal Kitchen

Indian restaurants in Jakarta are usually quite good but quite pricey due to the need to import so many of the cuisine’s essential spices and ingredients. But you can get your fill of a wide variety of Indian dishes at Royal Kitchen’s excellent and affordable lunch buffet (Rp 89k Mon-Thurs, Rp 109k Fri-Sun). Located in Mega Kuningan’s Bellagio mall, Royal Kitchen’s cozy venue is often packed at lunch with Indian expatriates enjoying the all-you-can-eat, which is always a good sign. You not only get your typical Indian treats like samosas, tandoori chicken, curries and naan, but also South Indian specialties like sambar and dosas. The buffet serves different dishes everyday and always includes a good selection of vegetarian options.

Shaburi Shabu Shabu

You’ve probably heard of Hanamasa’s all-you-can-eat shabu shabu deal, but frankly we’ve never been impressed with that chain restaurant’s food quality. For a better all you can eat shabu shabu experience, head to Pacific Place mall’s Shaburi Shabu Shabu. The restaurant has several all-you-can-eat packages depending on the kind of meat you choose. The cheapest (but still very good) package is the US Beef (Rp. 148k), which comes with unlimited beef plates, vegetables and soft drinks. You can choose from 6 different boiling hot soups to dip your meat into, including miso, chicken paitan and tomato. Shaburi has a 90 minute time limit on their all-you-can-eat deal, so be sure to eat strategically to get your money’s worth.

Shaburi Shabu Shabu, Pacific Place Mall, 5th floor, Jl Jendral Sudirman Kav 52-52, SCBD, South Jakarta. Ph. +62(21) 5797 3247

Grand City Chinese Restaurant

The Mandarin Oriental’s Xin Hwa restaurant used to have an excellent and relatively cheap all-you-can-eat dim sum brunch, and while it’s still excellent the price has unfortunately risen above Rp 200k. Fortunately we’ve found a good alternative in the Merlyn Park Hotel’s Grand City Chinese restaurant’s weekend dim sum brunch (Rp. 118,000, every Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 2pm). You can get your fill of traditional dim sum dumpling delights such as shumai and hargau, washed down with free flow Chinese tea or juice. There’s also shabu shabu and live cooking stations.

Grand City Chinese Restaurant, Merlynn Park Hotel, Jl. KH. Hasyim Ashari Kav. 29-31, Petojo Utara, Gambir, Central Jakarta. 021-30026888 Ext. 7081/7044-45/7031-33

Amigos

Sometimes we just need to eat a lot of tacos. Like, a lot. When that’s the case, we head over to Amigos for their weekday “Mexican and International Lunch Buffet,” (Rp. 85k, Mon-Fri from 11:30am-2pm) which we usually shorten to just “taco buffet.” While the Tex-Mex restaurant does offer a rotating selection of dishes on the buffet, the quality is a bit hit or miss. The real draw is the ever-present tacos, which a friendly cook will put together for you at the taco station, stuffing each crunchy corn shells with either chicken or beef and your choice of salsa, sour cream and guacamole. Don’t worry about what to choose, because you can always go back for seconds (and thirds, and fourths etc).

Amigos, (1) Kemang Club Villas, Jl. Kemang Selatan I. 021 719 2584. (2) Bellagio Boutique Mall, Mega Kuningan. 021 3006 6558.
