People leaping to KPK Chief Abraham Samad’s defense by claiming scandalous photos were photoshopped

Not long after scandalous photos of KPK Chief Abraham Samad and Miss Indonesia 2014 went viral, a team of experts at the KPK quickly investigated into the authenticity of the photographs. According to them, the photos were edited.

“The KPK has investigated the photos and it can be confirmed that they were edited and falsified,” said Deputy KPK Chief Bambang Widjojanto today, as quoted by Detik

Bambang said the photos were deliberately spread as an attack on the KPK. He’s not ruling out that the timing coincides with new corruption cases handled by the KPK.

“The KPK understands these kinds of situations. The KPK is always the target of lies, being delegitimized, and victimized by irresponsible individuals,” he said.

Putri Kusuma Wardani, head of the Miss Indonesia Foundation, is livid over the spread of the photos, which involved Miss Indonesia 2014 Elvina Devinamira.

“This afternoon I will send a press release. [The photos] were photoshopped,” Putri said today, as quoted by Tribun

Roy Suryo, former Minister of Youth and Sports who happens to be an IT expert, weighed in by saying he believes the photos were edited, but cannot yet be proven as the photos came in a collage.

“If the source of the photos came in a collage, they can’t be analyzed,” Roy said.

“The originals are still being traced.”

Meanwhile, Agan Harahap, the man responsible for photoshopping Hollywood stars into everyday Indonesian situations, came up with this hilarious parody of the scandal, which involves rapper P Diddy massaging a stressed out Abraham Samad:

“Be patient, mas. Just relax. The storm will pass…”
