Acting Civil Aviation Director General Djoko Murtamodjo said authorities spotted many red and white objects floating in the sea in the Air Asia QZ8501 search area.
He confirmed that the objects were plane debris from Air Asia flight QZ8501, which has been missing since Sunday.
“It’s been confirmed that [the objects] are plane debris. The plane debris were located around 100 miles southwest from Pangkalan Bun (Central Borneo),” Djoko said at a press conference this afternoon, as quoted by Tribun.
Djoko added that rescue teams are being dispatched to the coordinates where the plane debris were found.
“We hope we can evacuate [the airplane] soon,” Djoko said.
