Rosy Rosadi (39), Loneta (34), and Anita Aditya (26) were arrested by the police after the three young mothers were caught stealing people’s wallets at a shopping mall in Pademangan, North Jakarta, on Tuesday.

According to Benny Alamsyah, head of the Metro Pademangan Sector Police, the pickpocketing trio had their own individual roles: Rosy stole the wallets, Loneta stored the stolen goods and Anita distracted the victims. The three apparently dressed impeccably like real shopping housewives to avoid suspicion.

“They visited crowded malls to steal victims’ wallets,” Benny said today, as quoted by Merdeka

The young mothers told the police that this was the first time they had ever stolen money. They said they wanted to use the money to pay for karaoke and other nighttime entertainments in Tamansari, West Jakarta.

“This was the first time I stole a wallet, I was just a housewife before. I regret [my actions],” said one of the pickpockets. The three young mothers could now face up to seven years in prison.
