The Immigration Directorate General at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights has just launched an all-new blue design for Indonesian passports today. The new passports have been distributed to all immigration offices in Jakarta.

The new passport, dubbed the ‘B series’, ditched the old dark green cover for a royal blue look. The Garuda insignia and the lettering remains in gold, but the national icon Garuda took center stage this time as opposed to being confined to the top right corner as in the old passport.

The difference between the old and the new is even more drastic beyond the cover.

The background images on every page are more vibrant than ever. Every page showcases Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage and wildlife. The quality and type of paper, however, remains the same as the old passport.

According to Kompas.com, the passport application process is unchanged, as this is purely a physical modification.

Jakartans applying for a new passport will get their hands on the new design from now on.
