Jokowi with his Metallica bass before he gave it up
Remember when President-elect Jokowi, well-known to be a heavy metal enthusiast, got the awesome gift of a signed bass guitar from Metallica band member Robert Trujillo? And remember when he honorably gave the guitar up to avoid violating corruption laws? Yeah, that was a bummer.
But at least now Jokowi can gaze lovingly upon the gnarly bass everytime he visits the KPK’s Headquarters, where the guitar is now on display in a central location in the Corruption Eradication Committee’s lobby for all to see.
“This once belonged to Jokowi. It is being put on display, starting today,” KPK spokesman Priharsa Nugraha said Wednesday as quoted by Kompas.
The inscription from Trujillo on the guitar reads: “Giving back! To Jokowi. Keep playing that cool funky bass.”
The funky bass is displayed alongside a crystal plaque, handbags, pens and mobile phones that were given to politicians, as a reminder that such gifts should be reported to the Commission.
